Brazo de Mercedes

brazo de mercedes

Brazo de mercedes! my first attempt.

I know I know it's not what you usually see in the bakery but hey it's the hard work that counts! lol. The taste turned out pretty good though. In fact it didn't even last a day. My family just loved it.

I'm not sure what I did wrong. I was very careful in creating the merengue and the filling. The only difference is that I use a double boiler instead of direct heat from the pan. I added some toasted walnuts too and it was such a delight. I can't wait to perfect this recipe and hoping to someday post my perfect photo of brazo de mercedes. But for now, here is the recipe I used to create this mouth watering dessert. Enjoy and let me know how it turned out.

Ingredients:

For merengue

For filling

  • 10 large or 12 medium egg yolks
  • 1 can of condensed Milk
  • 1 tsp lemon zest
  • 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
